Culture is a combination of the practices that have been passed from generation to generation with life values embedded with beliefs and thoughts. The examples are Thai manners and etiquette and Thai traditions. Foreign visitors should know about what to do and what they should not do in Thai culture as follows.
           หมายถึง สิ่งที่คนในสังคมยึดถือปฏิบัติสืบต่อ ๆ กันมานาน มีคุณค่าทางชีวิต มักแฝงไปด้วยศีลธรรมจรรยา ความคิด ความเชื่อ เช่น การมีมารยาทไทย การปฏิบัติตนอย่างถูกกาลเทศะ รวมถึงการมีประเพณีต่าง ๆ ซึ่งเป็นเอกลักษณ์ที่สำคัญของชาติไทย (civicduty. ออนไลน์. 2558) ชาวต่างชาติควรทราบถึงสิ่งที่ควรทำและไม่ควรทำเกี่ยวกับขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณีของสังคมไทย ดังนี้

Do’s สิ่งที่ควรทำ
           1. Foreign visitors should know how to greet the Thai way that is called the “Wai”. Thais greet by putting their hands in the front of the chest level and bow their head as illustrated in Picture 5.2.
           2. Thais greet and pay respect to each other using a “Wai” and saying “Sawasdee”.
           3. Thais usually smile to show their kindness.
           4. If somebody greets you with “Wai” you should do the same thing.
           5. Foreign visitors should learn Thai language, for example “Sawasdee” which similar to saying “Hello”.
           6. Foreign visitors should be kind and try to know Thais.
           7. Visiting someone, you should have some souvenirs with you.
           8. Foreign visitors should take off their hats and shoes before entering temple and houses.
           9. Foreign visitors should take off their hat and bow their head to pay respect to the monk.
           10. Foreign visitors should ask for permission before taking anyone’s photo.
           11. Foreign visitors should speak softly in public place.
           12. Foreign visitors should call someone by waving your hand down. Waving up your hands mean sexual invitation.

           1. ชาวต่างชาติควรเรียนรู้การแสดงความเคารพต่อคนไทย คือ การเรียนรู้ท่าทางเพื่อแสดงการทักทายและขอบคุณ ท่าทางนี้เรียกว่า "ไหว้" โดยเอามือประสานกันด้านหน้าของหน้าอกและก้มศีรษะเล็กน้อย ตามภาพที่ 5.2 การไหว้
           2. คนไทยทักทายและแสดงความเคารพด้วยการไหว้ พร้อมกล่าวคำว่า "สวัสดี”
           3. คนไทยมักส่งรอยยิ้มให้กันและกันแสดงถึงความเป็นมิตรไมตรีแม้จะไม่เคยรู้จักกันมาก่อน
           4. หากมีใครมาไหว้คุณก่อน คุณควรจะไหว้ผู้นั้นคืน หรือภาษาไทยเรียกว่า “การรับไหว้”
           5. ชาวต่างชาติควรพยายามเรียนรู้ภาษาไทยสักเล็กน้อย เช่น คำว่าสวัสดีและขอบคุณเพื่อพูดคุยกับคนไทย
           6. ควรเป็นมิตรและทำความรู้จักคนไทยให้มากที่สุดเท่าที่จะทำได้
           7. เมื่อได้รับเชิญหรือไปเยี่ยมเยียนผู้ใด ควรจะมีของฝากไปมอบให้เพื่อแสดงน้ำใจไมตรี
           8. ควรถอดหมวกและรองเท้าเมื่อเข้าบ้านคนอื่น วัด และร้านค้าบางแห่ง
           9. ควรถอดหมวกและโค้งเล็กน้อยให้กับพระสงฆ์
           10. ควรขออนุญาติก่อนถ่ายรูปบุคคล
           11. ควรพูดด้วยเสียงเบา แม้ว่าคุณจะอยู่ข้างนอกก็ตาม
           12. เรียกคนให้มาหาคุณด้วยการกวักมือลง การกวักมือขึ้นถูกมองว่าเป็นการเชื้อเชิญทางเพศ


Don’ts สิ่งที่ไม่ควรทำ
           1. Foreign visitors should not show any aggressive emotions in public because it is considered impolite in Thai manners.
           2. Thais believe that the head is the highest part of the body, they do not touch someone’s head. If by chance, you touch their head, you should say sorry.
           3. Foreign visitors should not pass thing over the head which is impolite manner.
           4. Foreign visitors should not throw things to anyone.
           5. Thais believe that the foot is the lowest part of the body, it is impolite to put your foot on the table or use it to point at anyone.
           6. Foreign visitors should not kiss or hug in public or religious site.
           7. Foreign visitors should not greet Thai female by hugging or kissing.
           8. Foreign visitors should not humiliate people in public places or in front of the crowd.
           9. Foreign visitors should not make loud noise or talk when eating.
           10. Foreign visitors should not wear black dress in auspicious ceremonies, for example wedding, visiting people and birthday.
           11. Activities in Songkran festival have been preserved and represent good will. All the water used in the festival should be clean and using proper containers to splash water at each other. (m-culture. Online. 2014) (thailandclimbing. Online. n.d.)

           1. ไม่ควรขึ้นเสียง โกรธ หรือก้าวร้าว ในที่สาธารณะเพราะถือเป็นการเสียมารยาทในวัฒนธรรมไทย
           2. คนไทยถือว่าศีรษะเป็นของสูงจึงไม่ควรแตะต้องศีรษะของผู้ใด หากบังเอิญพลาดไปแตะศีรษะของผู้ใด ควรกล่าวคำขอโทษโดยเร็ว
           3. ไม่ควรจับหรือส่งสิ่งของข้ามศีรษะ ซึ่งถือว่าไม่สุภาพ
           4. ไม่ควรโยนสิ่งของให้กับผู้อื่น
           5. คนไทยถือว่าเท้าเป็นของต่ำจึงไม่ควรยกเท้าพาดบนโต๊ะ เก้าอี้ หรือใช้เท้าชี้คนหรือสิ่งของใด ๆ
           6. ไม่ควรแสดงความรักด้วยการกอดจูบในที่สาธารณะ หรือเขตศาสนสถาน
           7. ไม่ควรทักทายคนไทย โดยเฉพาะสุภาพสตรี ด้วยการโอบกอด หรือจูบ
           8. ไม่ควรกระทำการใด ๆ ให้ผู้อื่นรู้สึกอับอาย เสียหน้าในที่สาธารณะ หรือต่อหน้าสาธารณชน
           9. ไม่ควรพูดคุยหรือเคี้ยวอาหารเสียงดังในขณะรับประทานอาหาร
           10. ไม่ควรแต่งกายด้วยชุดสีดำในงานพิธีมงคล ต่าง ๆ เช่น งานแต่งงาน เยี่ยมผู้ป่วย วันเกิด เป็นต้น
           11. การละเล่นในเทศกาลสงกรานต์หรือเทศกาลประเพณีต่าง ๆ ของไทยควรกระทำเพื่อสืบทอดธรรมเนียมปฏิบัติที่ดีงามและแสดงออกถึงความปรารถนาดีและเจตนาบริสุทธิ์ เช่น ควรใช้น้ำสะอาด และภาชนะบรรจุที่เหมาะสมในประเพณีสงกรานต์ และไม่ควรเล่นน้ำสงกรานต์กับผู้ที่แสดงให้เห็นว่าไม่มีความประสงค์จะเล่น เป็นต้น (m-culture. ออนไลน์. 2557) (thailandclimbing. ออนไลน์. มปป.)
