Grammatical structure in this unit focuses on past simple.            โครงสร้างไวยากรณ์ในบทนี้จะเน้นการใช้กริยาในรูปอดีต

2.1 We use the past simple to describe an event that has already finished. Example is as follows.
           Thao Surananee died in 1852.

2.2 We form the regular verb of past simple by adding –ed at the end of the verb. Example is as follows.
           The Fine Arts Department announced Phanom Wan Sancutary as the archeological site.

2.3 Irregular verbs of past simple have different forms. Example is as follows.
           Korat Museum became one of the popular Arts and Culture Center of Nakhon Ratchasima from wide range of exhibition.

2.4 We form negative sentences in the past simple form of the verb to be (was/were) + not. Example is as follows.
           It was not until 2008 that the Petrified Wood Museum officially opened.

2.5 We form negative sentences of past simple form infinitive verb with did not+infinitive. Example is as follows.
           The Petrified Wood Museum did not display only animal fossils but it also displayed variety species of plant fossils.

2.6 We form a wh-question with question word+was/were+subject and question word+ did+ subject +infinitive. Examples are as follows.
           How old was petrified wood?
           When did petrified wood begin?

2.7 We form yes/no questions with was/were and did+subject+infinitive. Examples are as follows.
           A : Was Thao Suranaree’s relic in the foundation of the monument ?
           B : Yes, it was.
           A : Did Professor Silpa design the monument?
           B : Yes, he did.
