           The Memorial Monument of Thao Suranaree or commonly known as Lady Mo was built in bronze in 1933 by the command of the governor of Nakhon Ratchasima and the Fine Art Department with . Professor Silpa Bhirasri was appointed as the designer together with Phra Thevabhinimmitra (Chai Tiemsilapachai). The monument was made with bronze which is 1.85 meters high and 325 kilograms weight. It is on the Paitee base with square base reducing the size of an angle to twelve angles, it might be me but I really don’t understand this. The sculpture is dressed with the uniform bestowed on her, in the posture of standing with right hand holding a sword with its pommel pointing to the floor and the left hand placed on her waist. Her face turns to the West which is the location of Bangkok. It is considered as the first memorial monument of female common person of Thailand.
           The monument was built to commemorate her heroic deed leading female troops to prevent the city from the invasion of Laotian Army by Prince Anuwong during the reign of King Rama III. She died in 1852 and her relics were enshrined at Salaloi Temple, some were also enshrined at the foundations and placed at the front of the Chumphon gate. Nakhon Ratchasima people love and highly value the coins so much because they believe that they are the coins of victory for the dignity of the country and praise Thao Suranaree who is an eternal heroine.
           The Fine Arts Department announced the monument as an archeological site for the nation on the 3rd January, 1937. The provincial official and other officials, including the local people, together hold the celebration of, the Day of Victory of Lady Mo as the annual ceremony of province in order to be an occasion for paying respect and praising the bravery of Lady Mo and other heroes and heroines of Nakhon Ratchasima from 23rd March- 3rd April of every year at the front of the town hall (TAT.            อนุสาวรีย์ท้าวสุรนารีที่รู้จักโดยทั่วไปคือคุณหญิงโม สร้างจากสัมฤทธิ์ในปี พ.ศ. 2476 โดยผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัด นครราชสีมาและกรมศิลปากร รวมถึงการบริจาคจากประชาชน อนุสาวรีย์มีขนาดความสูงที่ 1.85 เมตร น้ำหนัก 325 กิโลกรรมตั้งอยู่บนฐานไพที ลักษณะการแต่งกายด้วยชุดไทยเต็มยศโดยที่มือขวาถือดาบชี้ลงพื้นและมือซ้ายเท้าสะเอว หันหน้าไปทางทิศตะวันตกทางด้านกรุงเทพมหานคร
           อนุสาวรีย์ท้าวสุรนารีสร้างเพื่อเป็นอนุสรณ์ถึงความกล้าหาญของท้าวสุรนารี ที่นำกองกำลังหญิงไทยปกป้องบ้านเมืองจากข้าศึกชาวลาว ซึ่งนำทัพโดยเจ้าอนุวงศ์ในรัชสมัยของรัชกาลที่ 3 ท้าวสุรนารีเสียชีวิตในปี พ.ศ. 2395 และอัฐิของท่านได้บรรจุอยู่ที่วัดศาลาลอยและฐานประตูชุมพล ชาวนครราชสีมาเคารพในความกล้าหาญของท่านมาก ในทุกปีมีการจัดงานเฉลิมฉลองชัยชนะของท้าวสุรนารีในระหว่างวันที 23 มีนาคม-3 เมษายนทุกปี ที่หน้าศาลากลางจังหวัด
